About Alok

Defne Alok (Istanbul,2001), completed her highschool at Adıgüzel Fine Art School. Her Bachelor’s Degree is still contuining at Yeditepe University, Fine Arts Faculty, Plastic Arts and Drawing. Her works exhibited (Kalıntı.2021) in Yalova, Turkey.

Statement

While Defne Alok radically changes her style as a result of her mental illness, she transfers her inner conflicts to paper and canvas due to the ailments she experiences. It adds the aesthetic perception that it creates its own internal conflicts to its existence. Trying to confront the mood patterns of borderline disorder, the artist began to deal with mediums such as coal, soft wax and acrylic.

Alok's works are generally abstract expression and figurative. The complexity and satisfaction of her work is reflected in the audience. The artist, who always turns to her inner world while producing her works, has been continuing her work since 2018.
